A Message from Bob Key on Dottie

To the friends of Dottie Key:

I would like to thank all our friends in the the Dayton Ski Club for the support during Dottie's illness and after her passing for the support given to her and the family in the way of cards, phone calls, visits, food, beautiful flowers, and just the love that was shown by all. Dottie had about 400 people attend the viewing and a large majority were ski club friends. The club has really been a big help in getting me through this time of need and I can never thank all of you enough.

We Survived the Zipline Adventure!

We Survived the Zipline Adventure!

Thirty-three brave souls went to Camp Kern's Zipline Adventure, September 19, 2009. There were 7 towers to zip from platform to platform and 3 swinging bridges to cross before getting back to base camp. The first zip was the most unnerving! After climbing several flights of stairs, we had no idea what to expect. We were tethered to the cables, told to stand at the edge of the platform, "bend your knees like sitting in a chair", and away we went! Many of us had shaking knees and sweaty palms at first.

Help Fill the Void by Volunteering

Lee Gulley has resigned as a Trustee and chairperson for the Adopt-a-Highway Program since he will be a Florida resident as of September 1. We thank Lee for his dedication to the Club in both of these positions. However, for the club to continue to develop Lee’s Adopt-a-Highway Program one of us needs to volunteer to chair this program.

Kick-Off Picnic A Great Day

Kick-Off Picnic A Great Day

110 people attended the Kick-Off Picnic on Aug. 1. Lee Gulley did a great job chairing the event with lots of help from many volunteers. A huge thank you goes to our hostess Kathy McKee for opening up her beautiful home for our party. The yard, pool and deck were so lovely and the weather cooperated to make the picnic a great success. Our trip leaders got to showcase their upcoming Ski Trips. Many members took the opportunity to renew their memberships for 09-10 and we welcomed some new members to the club. So many members came forward to help with shopping, set up, cooking, front desk., take down and clean up it was amazing.

Why ski club trips are better than

Why ski club trips are better than "Do it Yourself" (DiY) trips

Simply put, the benefits of club trips are not often quantifiable. Not everything in life comes down to dollars and cents.

The DSBC has worked hard this year to provide a number of exciting trips to the membership. Have a look and see which adventure you would like to add to your winter fun this year!
