A Message from Bob Key on Dottie

To the friends of Dottie Key:

I would like to thank all our friends in the the Dayton Ski Club for the support during Dottie's illness and after her passing for the support given to her and the family in the way of cards, phone calls, visits, food, beautiful flowers, and just the love that was shown by all. Dottie had about 400 people attend the viewing and a large majority were ski club friends. The club has really been a big help in getting me through this time of need and I can never thank all of you enough.

We Survived the Zipline Adventure!

Thirty-three brave souls went to Camp Kern's Zipline Adventure, September 19, 2009.  There were 7 towers to zip from platform to platform and 3 swinging bridges to cross before getting back to base camp.  The first zip was the most unnerving!  After climbing several flights of stairs, we had no idea what to expect.  We were tethered to the cables, told to stand at the edge of the platform, "bend your knees like sitting in a chair", and away we went!  Many of us had shaking knees and sweaty palms at first.  We soon found out that the rush from zipping across tree tops and valley's is just AWESOME.   We were told that if we weren't going fast enough to make it across; the cables would take us back out to the middle of the run.  Ken Young demonstrated that technique and the guides rescued him not once but twice!  Marty Baldwin was going in too fast on his last zip and crashed into the guide (who was protecting Marty from the tree!)  You know Marty - fast is fun!

After the zipline adventure, Camp Kern provided us with a nice dinner and desert.  The staff at Camp Kern is first class - we all had a great time and I am sure we will be repeating this adventure in the future as Ozone Zipline is adding 3 new towers and ziplines!
