A Message from Bob Key on Dottie
To the friends of Dottie Key:
I would like to thank all our friends in the the Dayton Ski Club for the support during Dottie's illness and after her passing for the support given to her and the family in the way of cards, phone calls, visits, food, beautiful flowers, and just the love that was shown by all. Dottie had about 400 people attend the viewing and a large majority were ski club friends. The club has really been a big help in getting me through this time of need and I can never thank all of you enough.

Did you know that trip insurance is very cost effective?
As we all prepare for that wonderful trip we want to make sure that we have all the details squared away. We check our packing list, get our paperwork in order, arrange for a pet-sitter and to have the mail brought in. But the best planned vacations can be rudely interrupted by an unplanned emergency; anything from missing luggage to a medical issue. The DSBC always recommends that our members obtain travel insurance when you participate on the trip with us. We understand that things do happen and want you to be as prepared as possible to have the best outcome. Please consider getting trip insurance for your next adventure - members who did (and then needed the services offered) are very grateful that they did!
Trip insurance is an inexpensive way to get some piece-of-mind
"Please consider routinely purchasing trip insurance as part of your ski trip expenditure. Jeannie and I have used it several times over the past few years and it has saved us a lot of money and hassles. The reasons are numerous:
- The insurance is reasonably priced at about 8% of trip cost.
- The insurance covers all pre-existing conditions if you purchase it at the same time you sign up for your trip.
- There are many unforeseen circumstances that will cause you to need the insurance, such as any medical emergency, whether it is related to skiing or not. The costs covered include transportation to medical facilities, gaps and deductibles in your own health insurance, delays in your return to Dayton, the use of a rental car, and extra nights lodging. These costs can be substantial and easily double the cost of your trip.
- There is peace of mind knowing that you will not have to argue about some unforeseen expense.
We have had occasions that involved all of these situations and been happy with the service we received after filing a claim."

Trip insurance paid for expenses over those covered by Roaslie's medical insurance coverage and for her Business Class plane fare home.
"Two years ago I went with the ski club to Switzerland to ski. They had very little snow until the day we arrived. We skied on a solid sheet of ice cover with a few inches of snow. As luck would have it, on the first run, I fell and tore my ACL. We were scheduled to go on to Paris and London after being in Switzerland. With my whole leg in a splint, I knew that there was no way that I could continue on the trip. I also knew that I could not fly back in coach with the leg in the full splint. Since I had trip insurance, it enabled me to fly back home in Business class. The trip insurance paid for the $4000 plane ticket. They also picked up the medical bills in Switzerland and back home that my medical insurance plan did not cover. I cannot say enough about having trip insurance. It surely saved me."
