Smokey Mountain Testimonials May 2012
Marian Brainerd: “A glorious week-end for our first visit to the Smokies and with the Dayton Ski group! The accommodations were amazing, living above the tree tops in luxury, and fun hiking and zip line activities during the day, with plenty of flexibility to do your own thing. We especially enjoyed getting to know other members — as well as enjoying their culinary skills. Another highlight was Dave’s guitar ability and singing to a variety of songs one night.”
Rod Sommer: “What’s not to like — grand house, magnificent view, abundant food, exhilarating zipline and distinguished company. I’d say more positive things, but I’ve run out of adjectives!”
Shari Weeks: “What a wonderful weekend getaway! Everyone was so friendly and we had such a great time getting to know each other during the delicious meals, and hanging out in the evenings, sipping wine, enjoying the view. We had a sing-along one evening, and watched videos another night. It was a great place to relax. Wish it had been a couple of days longer.”
Lila Minnich: “What a great trip! The Mansion in the Sky was truly that; wonderful accommodations. Abrams Falls was worth the sore legs from hiking up and down the mountain. The food was terrific and the new friends I met were a lot of fun. We even had our own musical entertainment and a video of the zip-liners in our very own theater. I couldn’t have had a better time. Thanks to all!”
Tim Humphrey: “We had a great time. This is the 2nd year Karen and I have taken this trip. Both times, the group of people that came were great. For this particular trip, the place we stayed, “The Mansion In The Sky”, was exceptional.”
Leslie Smith: “Dave & I had a wonderful time on the Smokey’s trip. Great opportunity to meet new people, get exercise with a great view, enjoy the hot tub & good food & drink in a luxurious cabin. We will definitely do it again.”
Charlie Young (aka Donnie): “I had a great time on the Gatlinburg trip. The zip lines were a blast, and I really enjoyed the group setting. It was nice to get to know the members that were there, enjoy good conversation, and good food.”
Karen Micka: “I wish I had a picture but I only have a memory. When we got back from hiking on Sat. and we were all tired and our smoke alarm proceded to BEEP. We took out the battery and it still beeped. Tim tried to disconnect it. It still beeped. Dave Smith came over from his room with Leslie and he held Tim up on a stool on the king sized bed. Tim stood up his full height and pulled down the alarm. SILENCE. WE ALL SLEPT SOUNDLY. Things don’t always go smoothly but they are never boring.”
Mike and Lucy O’Hare: “Great weekend. Everything was extremely well organized. The accommodations were spectacular, the weather was perfect, the hiking was challenging yet enjoyable, the social interactions were excellent and the meals that we all participated in preparing were beyond expectations. If we each had three thumbs, we would give it six thumbs up.”
