Policy F. Responsibilities of Trip Participants
1)
Room Charges
Trip participants shall not charge any item or service
to their room or if required to do so by the lodging
provider, one condo mate or roommate may provide a credit
card for activation of the telephone. Each person is
responsible for his own charges.
2)
Emergency Costs
Trip participants should be prepared for unforeseen
medical costs, injury or any other emergency. Any other
expenses, such as lodging, food, etc., should a trip be
forced to stay over past the original time of departure
due to weather conditions, an act of God or any other
circumstances which are no fault of the Dayton Ski and Board Club,
the travel agency, or the trip leaders, shall be borne by
the participants.
3)
Lost or Unused Tickets
DSBC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or otherwise
unused airline, lift, meal or other tickets once they
have been distributed to the trip participant.
a)
It is the participant’s responsibility to
replace lost tickets. The trip leaders will do everything
they can to assist with the replacement process.
b)
In the event a skier is injured and unable to continue
using their lift ticket, some ski areas will issue a
refund. The injured party must notify the trip leader as
soon as possible. Refund policies vary among the ski
areas, so there is no guarantee a refund will be
given.
c)
Every effort will be made by the trip leaders and
Board to obtain refunds for lift tickets if there are bad
weather conditions, or for any cancelled events.
4)
Unpaid Debts
Any expenses incurred by the DSBC on behalf of a member
must be paid within 60 days of occurrence. Failure to do
so shall result in cancellation of their membership and
employment of any recognized means to recover such
debt.
5)
Guidelines for Trip Conduct
a)
Trip Participants may be given a copy of this Trip
Policy upon request.
b)
Participation in DSBC ski trips is a privilege of
membership. Failure to abide by the standards of this
policy or other written policies of the DSBC may cause the
member to be excluded from participation in current and
future events. The Board of Trustees of DSBC reserves the
right to decline to accept any participant for cause
should such participant's health or conduct, in its
opinion, be counterproductive to the successful
completion of the trip. Written notice of his exclusion
shall be mailed to the participant.
c)
Travel creates special responsibilities for the trip
participant to honor the laws, codes, and ordinances of
varying entities and jurisdictions. Acts in violation of
local, state, or national laws, ordinances, customs, or
decrees shall be the sole responsibility of the trip
participant. The DSBC assumes no responsibility for
protection, defense, or other acts of advocacy on behalf
of a trip participant charged or held due to a claim of
such acts by local, state, or national entity.
d)
Travel and skiing are inherently hazardous activities.
Each trip participant acknowledges this and assumes any
and all such risks and agrees to hold the DSBC harmless
from the consequences of such hazards. Every trip
participant acknowledges that it is his responsibility to
ski in control and avoid obstacles and hazards including
other skiers and all equipment. Trip participants
understand and agree that the DSBC assumes no liability
for any such risks and dangers encountered on any DSBC
trip. Signing the Application Form signifies acceptance
of these policies.
6)
Foreign Trips
It is the responsibility of the participant to acquire
proof of citizenship in a timely manner. Passports are
required for all foreign trips, with the exception of
Canada which will accept a copy of your birth certificate
with a raised seal and a driver's license or other photo
ID.
7)
Trips Involving Air Travel
Airlines require a picture ID at check-in. Please be
sure to bring your driver's license, passport, or state
issued ID to the airport with you.
8)
Policy Exceptions
All appeals and requested exceptions shall be made to
the Skiing Vice President.
